White House: Pres. Trump Reaches .9B Deal for Two Air Force One Planes

The White House says it has reached an informal deal with Boeing for two brand new Air Force One planes.
On Tuesday, Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley announced that President Trump has approved a fixed price contract totaling $3.9 billion.
The White House said the project would save taxpayers over one billion dollars compared to original estimates.
During the transition, then president-elect Trump protested against Boeing’s initial asking price.
“Well the plane is totally out of control. It’s going to be over four billion dollars for Air Force One program. And I think it’s ridiculous. I think Boeing is doing a little bit of a number. We want Boeing to make a lot of money, but not that much money.” — then-presidential candidate Donald Trump
New Air Force One planes are typically an expensive project as the aircraft is designed to be equipped with state of the art military defenses and communications systems.
