The Trump administration will impose a new round of sanctions on Russia in the coming weeks.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told a House subcommittee the new sanctions will be imposed soon.

He pushed back against false notion that President Trump is trying to block Russia sanctions in response to Moscow’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Mnuchin said President Trump is “fully supportive” of the administration’s new report and individual sanctions.

In the report, the Treasury publicly identified more than 100 Russian officials and businessmen eligible for sanctions.

“There’s an enormous amount of work that has gone into the report, the classified version, with the Intel community,” said Mnuchin. “As I have said, I expect in the next several weeks we will be moving forward with sanctions on Russia as a result of the act, so I can assure you that both in discussions with the President, he is fully supportive of the work we’re doing.”

Last month, the U.S. warned foreign governments that they could face sanctions if they are caught making significant transactions with the Russian military.
