(thepostmillennial)Daniel Baker, a disgraced veteran of the US Army, has been arrested and charged in connection with a plot to use violence on protestors at the Florida Capitol.
Baker has been charged with transmission of a threat to kidnap or injure, and could be facing up to five years of prison time for distributing flyers and posting a plan online to surround and attack pro-Trump protestors at the Florida Capitol this coming Sunday.
The US Attorney from Florida’s Northern District had this to say about Baker and people like him:
“‘Extremists intent on violence, from either end of the political and social spectrums, must be stopped…and they will be stopped.’ See @NDFLnews video statement regarding today’s arrest of extremist Daniel Baker in Tallahassee, FL.”
According to the Tallahassee Democrat, Baker has been involved in various protests and actions around the country in the recent past. He has been to Seattle and Nashville, among other places.
Baker served in the US Army, but it appears he was discharged dishonorably for going AWOL before his unit was deployed overseas. He apparently also has ties to the Kurdistan’s Working Party, which has been designated as a terrorist organization.
Baker is currently being held in Tallahassee in a federal facility, and has a hearing scheduled for Jan. 12. Prosecutors are asking for him to be held until trail, since they consider him to be a potential flight risk.
A TPM investigation into Baker’s YouTube page reveals sentiments similar to other expressions of violence he posted on social media.
